Sigmaringendorf Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess. The upper field is divided per bend sinister into red over gold, above displaying golden (= yellow) hammer and mallet crossed per saltire, below displaying a red plough share. In the lower field is a golden (= yellow) stag statant in a red field.
Meaning:
The colours red and gold and the stag in the base are alluding to the Counts of Sigmaringen, the former rulers. Hammer and mallet are symbolizing the smeltery in Laucherthal while the plough share is symbolizing agriculture. From 1727 until 1948 the municipal seals displayed the patron saints St. Peter and St. Paul.
