Hagelstadt Coat of Arms

Shield Argent chapé embowed Gules, in base a rooster passant Gules, on dexter chief a man´s torso Argent, crowned and without arms, on sinister base a key Argent in pale.
Meaning:
The rooster is an attribute of St. Vitus, patron saint of the local parish church and of the Prüll Charterhouse. The torso is taken from the arms of the Counts of Königsfeld and is representing Langenerling, which historically belonged to the Alteglofsheim district (Bavarian: Hofmark), which was ruled by the counts between 1659 and 1810. The key is alluding to the Benedictine Oberaltaich Monastery, which owned large estates in Gailsbach. The key furthermore is an attribute of St. Peter, one of the patron saints of the monastery. The tinctures red and white are alluding to the close connections to city, bishopric, monasteries and nunneries of Regensburg.
