Shield Gules an andiron pall Argent; mantled, at dexter Sable a fess Argent with a 6-point star of the same in canton, at sinister Or a dragon rampant Vert spitting flames Gules.
Meaning:
The andiron pall is taken from the arms of the Counts of Wildberg. Their existence in the Grabfeld area is proven in the 12th century. They died out in 1304. The dexter part of the mantle displays the family arms of the Lords of Bardorf. They had been commissionaires of the Counts of Wildberg and the Counts of Henneberg between the 13th century and the middle of the 14th century. The dragon is an attribute of St. Margaret, the local patron saint. The saint was already displayed on a local seal from the 19th century. The tinctures golden and green are those of the Counts of Henneberg. They ruled Großbardorf since 1305 and sold it in 1354 to the Bishopric of Würzburg. The tinctures red and white are those of the bishopric.
