Fladungen Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, a church façade Argent with windows Sable and roofs Azure topped by balls Or having three towers; on a triangular gate Gules with gable Argent a bishop in half length portait, dressed Azure with mitre Or and holding a sword by his dexter hand and a crozier by his sinister hand.
Meaning:
The pattern already appeared on the oldest local seal. Its use is proven since 1382 until the 18th century. The bishop formerly might have been St. Kilian. Sword and crozier had been added later and thus the saint turned to a Bishop of Würzburg in order to stress his sovereignty over the city. The tinctures are based on armourials from 1544 and 1593.
