Burglauer Coat of Arms

Shield Argent parted by a fess Azure, above three 6-spokes wheels Sable ordered 2:1, beneath an embattled tower Gules masoned Sable with port and windows Argent.
Meaning:
The tower, representing a castle (German: Burg) and the fess wavy, representing the Lauer River, together are canting. In order to distinguish the village from Poppenlauer in Bad Kissingen County and Niederlauer the prefix "Burg" was added and appeared first in 1232. The wheels are taken from the arms of the Lords of Steinau, who lived in the village between 1523 and 1734. The tomb of Knight Bernhard of Steinau, who died in 1508, and his three consorts is in the local parish church. The tinctures silver and red are those of the Bishopric of Würzburg, to which the village belonged until 1803.
