Timmendorfer Strand Municipal Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield is a golden (= yellow) sailing ship. Upon the dexter chiefpoint is a seahorse of the same colour.
Meaning:
Although Timmendorfer Strand had been a spa since 1918, it was outsourced from Ratekau in 1937 and became an independent municipality in 1945. Spa and other activities of tourism are the main business lines. The seahorse had been the logo of the spa. The boat is symbolizing watersports and tourism on the shores of the Baltic Sea. The blue colour is symbolizing the Baltic Sea while the yellow colour is symbolizing the sandy beaches.
