Nordhausen County Banner Coat of Arms

Shield parted per bend, beneath right chequered of Gules and Argent charged with as tomp Or, above left Or charged with a sprout Gules iisuant from stomp.
Meaning:
The chequered field is derived from the arms of the Counts of Hohnstein, to which the area historically belonged. The stomp is symbolising the destroyed city of Nordhausen during WW2 in 1945. The sprout is symbolising the future beneath a golden sky.
