Oberneukirchen Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess, above Or a wyvern statant reguardant Sable, beneath Azure a church Argent.
Meaning:
The church is a canting element, alluding to the suffix "-kirchen", which means "having a church". The village had its own parish since the Medieval. The wyvern is an attribute of St. Margaret of Antioch, the local patron saint. The tinctures are those of the Archbishopric of Salzburg (above: yellow and black) and the Duchy of Bayern (beneath: blue and white). Although the district belonged completely to Bayern since the Treaty of Erharting (1275), the archbishopric owned large estates and played an important role as manorial lord until 1802.
