Blankenstein Coat of Arms

Shield Or parted by a fess wavy of six barrulets alternating of Azure and Argent, chief Or hammer and mallet Sable in saltire hafted Gules, chief Azure three rolls of paper Argent ordered 2:1.
Meaning:
The barrulets wavy are a representation of the Saale River. Hammer and mallet, the symbols of mining, are referring to the depletion of ore, which was depleted since 1371, when also a hammer mill existed in the village. The rolls are referring to the local production of paper and pulp.
