Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
The shield is divided per fess. Above in a blue field is a golden (=yellow) medlar blossom barbed and seeded red. Below in a golden (= yellow) field is a red fleur de lis.
Meaning:
According to source the present arms are a combination of the medlar blossoms of Geldern and Wetten. Kevelaer had been separated from Wetten in the 17th century, when the pilgrimage to Kevelaer arose. The lily is symbolizing the former municipality of Kervenheim, which had been incorporated to Kevelaer in 1969.
