Guttenberg Coat of Arms

Shield Azure a heraldic rose Or barbed Argent, base Argent a throughout cross facetted patty Gules.
Meaning:
The family arms of the Barons of Guttenberg displayed the rose. Heinrich of Plassenberg built the local Guttenberg Castle in 1315 and renamed himself as Lord of Guttenberg. The Lords of Plassenberg had been commissionaires of the Counts of Andechs-Meranien and were first mentioned in 1148. The red cross is alluding to St. George, the local patron saint. In the local parish church there are the family graves of the barons from the 16th until the 18th century.
