It is a white-red-white vertical triband. The coat of arms, either on a Baroque cartouche yellow (see left image above) or on a Spanish shield (see central image above) shifted towards the top. There is also a red-white-red vertical triband (see right image above) with coat of arms on Spanish shield shifted towards the top.

Maßbach Coat of Arms

Shield parted per pale of Argent and Gules and parted by a throughout pile reversed in counterchanged tinctures.
Meaning:
The town arms are the family arms of the Lords of Maßbach, local rulers until the end of the 30-Years-War (1618 - 1648), when the kin died out. Their arms are known from seals since the 14th century. The pattern was used on local seals until the 19th century. The tinctures were not known but the nowadays silver parts had been masoned on the seals. The tinctures were introduced by a draft of Otto Hupp in 1937.

The arms were approved on 14 April 1949 by Minister of Interior of Bayern.
