Tschirn Coat of Arms

Shield parted per fess; above Azure a bearded saint in half length portrait, nimbed Or, dressed Gules and coated Argent, holding a baton Or by his right hand and a Latin cross Or by his left hand, at sinister on his breast a scallop Gules; beneath Or two eradicated firs Sable in fess.
Meaning:
The saint is St. James the Elder, recognisable by his attributes scallop and baton, patron saint of the local parish church since 1276. The black trees are canting, as the name of the municipality is derived from the Slavic word "cerny" (= black). The tinctures are those of the Bishopric of Bamberg, to which the municipality belonged before 1276 and again between 13888 and 1803.

The arms were approved on 11 April 1957 by Minister of Interior of Bayern. The banner with bannerhead was approved on 11 April 1957.
