Gädheim Coat of Arms

Shield Gules a leaf of oak, linden and chestnut in triangle.
Meaning:
In 1978 the municipalities of Gädheim, Ottendorf and Gresshausen merged. The oak leaf is representing Gädheim and is referring to the riches of oaks in the past. The linden leaf is representing Ottendorf. The landmark of the village are two old linden trees, the so called Turkey Lindens, which had been planted in 1683 in order to celebrate the rescue of Wien (Vienna) from the Turkish siege. The chestnut trees were already depicted on a local seal of Gresshausen from the 18th century. The trees today are natural monuments. The tinctures red and silver are those of the Bishopric of Würzburg, to which the area belonged until 1803.
