Waibstadt Coat of Arms

Shield Or, an eagle Sable, armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
Waibstadt had already been a walled market town around 1200 and gained the status of an Imperial City in the 2nd half of the 13th century as part of the Imperial Bailiwick of Wimpfen. Effectively the city was ruled by the Bishopric of Speyer from 1330 until 1802, as the city had been impawned several times. Nevertheless the city kept the Imperial Eagle as its proper symbol without any interruptions, even when it became a possession of Baden in 1802. The existence of the eagle (with and without shield) is proven from a seal, dated 1623 and in use since 1862.

The banner was approved on 20. November 1962 by Minister of Interior of Baden-Wüttemberg, published in GABl 13/1963.
