Sinsheim Coat of Arms

Description of coat of arms:
In a golden (= yellow) shield is a black eagle armed and tongued red.
Sinsheim was first mentioned as a city in 1234 and became a free imperial city in the late 13th century. The oldest seal dates from the same time already shows the (one-headed) imperial eagle. The arms of Sinsheim didn't change ever since, although the sovereignty over the city changed several times. After having been pawned several times Sinsheim finally became a possession of the Palatine Counts and Electors of Rhine in 1362, of the Princes of Leiningen in 1803 and finally of the Grand Dukes of Baden in 1806. The current version displays an imperial eagle in Romanic style.
