Großschweidnitz Coat of Arms

Shield Or parted by a bridge Azure having one complete arch and two more half arches in flanches, under the central arch a rod of Asklepios of the same, on chief a bobbin Azure in fess with filaments Or, orle Azure charged with 12 millwheels Or.
Meaning:
The bridge is representing the railway viaduct crossing the Höllengrund, a gorge. It was finished in 1847. The rod of Asklepios is symbolising the local hospital. The bobbin is representing textiles industries, especially the production of linen. The millwheels are a represention of the former local 12 watermills. The tinctures are those of Upper Lusatia.
