The flag's ratio is 3:5. It is a blue - yellow - blue vertical triband with ratio 1:2:1. The coat of arms is in the middle of the central stripe.

Description of coat of arms:
In a blue shield is a golden (= yellow) griffin's head tongued red. The base is divided by two thin silver (= white) wavy barrulets.
Meaning:
The wavy lines are symbolizing the creeks Carbäk and Kösterbeck, the colours and the griffin's head are symbolizing the affiliation with the Lordship of Rostock.
