Pollenfeld Coat of Arms

Shield Gules, above a lion passant Or, beneath a thistle Argent with six leaves.
The thistle (Latin: Carlina acaulis) is a characteristic plant of the Altmühl Jura and is referring to the location of the municipality in that mountain range. The leaves are representing the former municipalities of Seuversholz, Sornhüll, Wachenzell, Weigersdorf (all incorporated 1972) and Preith (partially incorporated 1978) and Pollenfeld proper. The lion is a differentiation of the arms of the Chapter of the Bishopric of Eichstätt. Wachendorf was owned by the bishopric in 1179, Sornhüll and Weigersdorf in 1186, Preith was acquired by the chapter in 1302 and Seuversholz was owned by the bishopric until 1484.
