The shield is blue, divided by a red cross fimbriated silver. In the centre of the cross is a silver 6-spokes wheel, emerging from wheel are four silver oak leaves, one upon each cross bar.
Meaning:
The four arms of the cross are probably representing the former municipalities of Bischhagen, Mengelrode, Siemerode and Streitholz, which merged on 1 January 1991. The wheel is representing the Archbishops of Mainz, the former rulers. The oak leaves a re alluding to the Eichsfeld region.
