Harburg Coat of Arms

Shield Or, an eagle Sable armed and tongued Gules.
Meaning:
A local seal with prints from 1290 displayed the eagle in a triangular shield as symbol of an imperial estate. Seals between the 14th century until 1891 displayed the eagle without shield. The arms remained basically the same. At the beginning of the 19th century the origin of the eagle was unknown. Otto Hupp painted him as imperial eagle in black tincture.
