Blaibach Coat of Arms

Shield Gules a wyvern Argent, holding a mason´s hammer Or by his dexter claw and leaning his sinister claw on an inesccuthceon Or charged with a fess Azure.
Meaning:
The wyvern is the heraldic animal of the Benedictine Reichenbach Monastery, the most important landowner in the past. Blaibach was first mentioned in 1182, when a farm was dedicated to the monastery. The hammer is symbolising stonemasonry as important business line until the 20th century. The inescutcheon displays the arms of the Nothafft family, another landowner, who also held the local low level cognisance of the Blaibach district (Bavarian: Hofmark).
