Altötting Coat of Arms

Shield Or, on a pedestal issuant Argent St. Mary standing, crowned Or, nimbed Argent, dressed Gules, coated Argent with ticking Azure, holding Jesus Christ with an apple Or in his right hand, nimbed Argent and dressed Gules in her right arm and a sceptre Or topped by a fleur-de-lis in her left hand.
Meaning:
The arms originally had been those of Altötting Abbey. The abbey, led by a provost was established in 1228 and dissolved in 1803. Its arms were erroneously denoted as municipal arms in 1811 and 1835. In 1845 the village was elevated to a market town, and since then arms and seals became official symbols of the town. Altötting gained city rights in 1898. The arms show Mary and child as depicted in the Holy Chapel of Grace, a famous place of pilgrimage, among Catholics known by its many miraculous spiritual healings. The original "image of grace" is from the 14th century.

The arms were granted on 29 August 1845 by King Ludwig I of Bayern. A white-red city flag was in use at least before 1965.
