Feuchtwangen Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a fir Vert on top of a mount of the same issuant from base.
Meaning:
Until 1376 the city was under direct imperial rule. It was pawned to the Burgraves of Nürnberg from the Zollern kin. All old seal from the 14th until the 18th century displayed the black imperial eagle. Since the end of the 18th century usage of the current pattern of council and court increased. As all imperial symbols had to disappear in Bayern after 1806, the coat of arms with the fir had been the only one since 1819. In 1812 the fir was green on a blue shield, and later on a golden shield. The fir is said to be canting, as Feuchtwangen is derived from Franconian Feichtwang, which means something like "fir's slope".
