Pöttmes Coat of Arms

Shield Argent a pair of intertwined initials "P" Azure, flanked by two water lily leaves Vert pierced trefoily Argent.
Meaning:
In 1324 King Ludwig the Bavarian granted the rights of a market town to Pöttmes. The oldest known seal print from 1325 already displayed the current pattern. It is assumed that the initials belong to St. Peter and St. Paul, the local patron saints. The leaves are taken from the arms of the Lords of Gumppenberg, former local rulers. Their family arms displayed on a red shield three green leaves on a white bend.

The banner has never been approved officially. The arms were confirmed on 26 July 1949, probably by the local council.
