Sommerkahl Coat of Arms

Shield Gules parted abased by a fess wavy Argent, above hammer and mallet reversed Argent in saltire, beneath an oak leaf Or in fess.
Meaning:
Hammer and mallet are alluding to the depletion of copper and ore since 1572. As mining had been finished in 1972, the tools are displayed reversed. The oak leaf is representing of the Spessart, a forest. The fess wavy is representing the name giving Kahl, a little river. The tinctures red and white are those of the Archbishopric of Mainz, to which the village belonged between 982 and 1803.
