The flag of Coldrerio reminds of the castle said to exist since 1275, the hazel-tree branch alludes to
the abundance of this fruit in the area and which have possibly given its name to the village by
derivation of the name Croy which means hazel-nut (or nocciolo in Italian). Nothing about
the presence of the cauldron (in Italian pentola) in the armorial but I assume that it could be
canting as the italian calderotto for cauldron is close to the name of this village.
