This may be a canting banner of arms, Buix coming from buisson, a shrub.
Pascal Gross, 16 September 2000

I would rather say that the tree is a box-tree (French, buis ; Latin Buxus sempervirens). The opposed oval leaves are rather characteristic. We are more familiar to the very small, shrubby box-trees used to delimit the gardens 'à la française', but box-tree in the wild are able to reach 5–8 meters in high.
Ivan Sache, 17 September 2000

Courtemaîche (until 31 December 2008)
