The church (in German "Kirche") makes the flag of Meikirch canting.
Pascal Gross, 27 November 2001

Perhaps twice canting. Maybe the star stands for Mary, whose month is May, German "Mai" (pronounced quite like "Mei").
Santiago Dotor, 28 November 2001

[The foundation of the village is connected with the foundation of the nearby monastery of Frienisberg in the 12th century. Originally, the village was called "Mönchkilchen" (monk church). "Meikirch" seems to be a derivative of it.]
