Description of the Flag

The flag of Serra Alta is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 34 promulgated on 14 August 1990.

Article 1.
§1. The flag shall have the following characteristics.
- A rectangle of 1.30 m in length (horizontal) on 0.90 m in width (vertical), divided in three horizontal stripes of 35 cm, 20 cm, and 35 cm, respectively
a) The first stripe, in top, blue, representing clean air.
b) The second stripe, in the middle, red, representing wealth, spirit of peace and the horizon.
c) The third stripe, in base, green, representing the fertile land.
- In the center, a white lozenge of 52 cm in side, 55 cm in width and 92 cm in length, representing economy. In the lozenge's center is placed the coat of arms of the municipality.
§2. Accordingly, the municipality of Serra Alta adopts red, blue, green and white as its official colors.

The coat of arms of Serra Alta is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 10 promulgated on 15 January 1990.

Article 1.
§1. The coat of arms shall have the following characteristics.
The coat of arms of the municipality of Serra Alta shall be described in proper heraldic language as follows.
A Samnite shield divided into three parts, divided in the middle, the upper part itself divided into two parts.
The shield surmounted by a six-towered yellow mural crown.

In the shield's first division, dexter (right), on a green background representing he fertile land, a black tractor and stylized plow representing mechanized agriculture and smallholders.
In the second upper division, sinister (left) on a blue background representing clean air, white poultry birds, pigs and bovines, as part of the municipality's income.
In the third division, on a green and blue background, a stylized cogwheel representing industry and progress, in yellow, red and blue, which represents wealth and spirit of peace. In the same division, three stylized logs representing a source of income and life for the municipality.
On the shield's right side a wheat plant and a maize cob, on the left side a soybean plant and a bean plant, representing the municipality's basic crops.
Beneath the shield a scroll gules (red) inscribed in black letters the toponym "SERRA ALTA - SC", surrounded by "26-04-1938", the date of establishment of the municipality.
