Municipality

The municipality of Taquara (54,656 inhabitants in 2010; 45,800 ha) is located 70 km of Porto Alegre. The municipality is composed of the districts of Taquara (seat), Entrepelado, Fazenda Fialho, Pega Fogo, Padilha, Rio da Ilha and Santa Cruz de Concórdia.

The flag of Taquara is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 1,453 promulgated on 10 October 1991.

Article 1.
The flag of the municipality of Taquara is composed of a blue panel charged in the center with the coat of arms of the municipality in full colors, covering 1/5 (20%) of the flag's area.

Article 2.
The dimensions of the flag of the municipality shall be those of the national flag.

The coat of arms of Taquara is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 454 promulgated on 20 September 1968.

Article 1.
A Portuguese shield, tierced horizontally by the Bells' River and divided vertically by its tributary, river Paranhanha. In chief, on a field argent, Cross Hill vert (green) surmounting by the Luminous Cross gules (red), symbolizing the town's landscape; dexter, on a field vert (green) a plow or, representing agriculture in the municipality; sinister, on a field azure (blue), a cow passant or, representing milk production, cattle-breeding and shoemaking industry; beneath a pyrethrum flower argent bottoned or proper). The shield supported by two bamboo ["taquara"] sticks or outlined vert without leaves, crossed over a scroll gules (red) inscribed argent "1882 - TAQUARA - 1886". The shield surmounted by a four-towered mural crown or. The colors represent the earth, the sky and the people's character, work and dynamism, as well as the national and Riograndense colors.
