The coat of arms described above has the following symbolic interpretation:
a) The Flemish-Iberian classic shield, adopted to represent the arms of Capão Bonito do Sul, originates from Germany and was first introduced to Spain during the struggle against the Moors, being subsequently adopted in Portugal, especially to represent coat of arms of domains, and eventually by Brazilian heraldry to evoke the colonizing race and main builder of our nation.
b) The Portuguese crown surmounting the shield is the universal symbol of coat of arms of domains; golden (or) with six towers, four visible in perspective, it classifies the town as of third rank or municipal seat. c) Or (gold) is a symbol of royalty, celebrity, splendor, command, force, and wealth.
d) In the shield's center is represented the parish church of Canudos do Vale, emphasizing the religious spirit of the whole community and of all races, as well as the significance of the historical and cultural heritage.
e) Prominent in the shield is water and the main rivers watering the municipality, Ireré, aka Pinheirinho, and Forquetinha that vertically waters the local landscape, symbolizing the significance of ecology and freshwater for the whole mankind.
f) The green (vert) base symbolizes geography, fields and plains. Food industry is also represented to highlight the potential increase of the municipal income due to this productive industry. Above, the symbol of cattle-breeding and dairy industry. Dexter a pig to symbolize this industry and the municipality's rural origin, and two birds to represent aviculture.
g) Green (vert) is the symbol of honor, civility, courtesy, glee, abundance and hope; green also represents mountains and greening fields promising profuse harvests.
h) In upper sinister part is represented union, solidarity, friendship and persistence of the community during the political emancipation, through a golden handshake on a blue field. Beside is represented the symbol of greatness, a sun, also a symbol of sovereignty. It also represents the Platine nations [Argentina and Uruguay] that border Brazil.
i) The outer ornaments proper represent two main products of the generous and fertile soil, maize and tobacco
j) On a red (gules) scroll in white letters the identifying toponym "CANUDOS DO VALE" surrounded by the dates "1880", beginning of colonization, and "16/04/1996", the date of creation and political emancipation. On the scroll is also inscribed the motto that best identifies and characterizes the spirit and skills of the citizens of Canudos do Vale, "UNIÃO - TRABALHO – HOSPITALIDADE".
