About the Flag of Pinhalão

The municipality of Pinhalão (6,210 inhabitants in 2010; 22,069 ha) is located 200 km north-west of Curitiba.

The flag of Pinhalão is green, quartered by a yellow cross superimposed in the center with a white lozenge inscribing the municipal coat of arms.
The flag was selected in a public contest in 1973, with the specific purpose of commemorating the 22 years of political emancipation of the municipality.

The green color symbolizes forests and the hope of Pinhalão's people in the development and greatness of the territory, through their hard work The yellow color symbolizes resources, both in agriculture and animal breeding, as well as industries and other economic activities in the municipality.
The cross highlights the faith and Christian spirit of Pinhalão's people.
The white color represents peace and trust that the residents have in their rulers, with the municipal shield in the center, so that people never forget the strength, work and love they always have for the municipality of Pinhalão.

The shield is surmounted by a silver (argent) mural crown with six towers, four of them visible, representing the strength that protects the town and also the symbol of the town itself.
The shield's upper half is blue, a color symbolizing harmony, knowledge, lucidity, intellect, etc. and representing the always blue sky of the homeland. On the dexter (right) and sinister (left) sides, two pine tree symbolize the state and the municipality. Sable (black) means kindness, wealth and solidarity. In the center of the blue field, a silver fleur-de-lis symbolizes the Christian faith of the people and Our Lady.
The shield's lower half is or (gold), a symbol of wealth supplied by the soil, divided by Ribeirão Grande in blue. The plow gules (red) is the traditional symbol of field work. The red color means farmer's arduous work required to prepare the soil, sow and harvest.
The shield is supported dexter by a coffee branch, as the main crop and source of income for the municipality, and sinister by a maize plant fructed and flowered, which symbolize in heraldry profuse harvest and abundant production.
The scroll is inscribed with "PINHALÃO", surrounded dexter with the day and month of the municipality's creation, "11/14", and sinister with the year of creation, "1951", when becoming a municipality and an integral part of the development of the state and the strength of the country.
