About the Flag

A green field, overlain by a descending yellow diagonal stripe, overlain by a red lozenge bearing a blue disk with a white star centered.

The municipality of Bragança (113,165 inhabitants in 2011; 2,090 sq. km) is located in northeastern Pará, 220 km of Belém.

The flag of Bragança is prescribed by Municipal Law No. 377 of 21 June 1955.

"The flag will be designed for the commemoration of the 100th anniversary of the statutes of "cidade" granted to the town. The flag has the same colors as the flags of Brazil and of Pará (green, yellow, blue, red and white) and with the same configuration as the two flags united in harmonic display: rectangle; lozenge and sphere (form the national flag), diagonal stripe and star (from the State flag) showing our joint feeling to Brazil and Pará. The two sides of the flag are strictly identical. The dimensions and display of the elements follow the following rules: a rectangle of 8 units in height on 11 units in width: the diagonal stripe has a height of 1/2 unit, starting from the upper left corner and reaching the lower right corner. The lozenge is 6 units in the horizontal dimension and is centered with its vertices distant of 1 unit from the flag's edges. The sphere, also centered, has a radius of 1/2 unit. The star, also centered, has a radius of 1 unit and one of its point pointing to the middle of the flag's horizontal edge. The colors of the flag are the following. Rectangle: (national) flag green; diagonal stripe: canary yellow; lozenge: red; sphere: sky blue; star: white. The elements are superimposed in this order. The flag will be inaugurated on 11 December of this year after blessing by the church authorities.
