About the Flag

The flag is purple with a white lozenge (same pattern as the national flag) charged with the municipal coat of arms. The flag and arms were adopted by Municipal Law No. 470/1984.

"Ressaquinha", as the diminutive of "ressaca", might be construed to mean "little hangover", however the non-metaphoric meaning of the word is rather "wave wash", or "surf". Minas Gerais being landlocked and famous for its liquor, however, allows for all kinds of interpretations -- sadly the flag design is no clue.
