History

Fremantle Harbour Trust was established in the late 1890's and renamed Fremantle Port Authority (FPA) in the early 1960's and changed again in the 1999/2000 to Fremantle Ports.

I believe the Western Australian state flag was used as a house flag for both the Fremantle Harbour Trust (FHT) and Fremantle Port Authority (FPA) by simply including the initials to the flag. Our house flag since the change to Fremantle Ports is now our logo white on blue.

The Fremantle Port Authority took over from the Fremantle Harbour Trust on 27 November 1964.

The pictures are based on post-1953 pictures sent me by the Fremantle Ports folks. I have pictures with ripples below the swan as well as pictures with no ripples.

I don't actually have a picture of a pre-1953 FHT flag, but was told that it had been used prior to 1953.

The flag with markings on the swan is based on a post card that the FPA had made up some time in the 1960s I think. That's only a guess relative to the style of the post card. I was also sent pictures of a state flag with the same design. My impression is that the FPA once had its own flag makter/sail maker guy on site.
