Description of the flag

This is the flag of Chesterfield County, Virginia, just south of the state capital, Richmond. Chesterfield's flag is white with the county seal in the center. An email I received from the county administrator's office describes the seal as

"a picture of a coal miner leaning on his pick under a pine tree with a flowing river at his feet."
The date "1749" appears in the bottom of the seal, indicating the year that the county was established.

The current flag was adopted in 2016. The flag is navy blue with a gold fringe around all sides except the hoist. The flag has a seal in the center reading 'Chesterfield Sheriff's Office' with a sheriff's badge in the center of the seal. Around the seal is a gold chain. Beside the chain and seal are two black eagles, representing " the strength of the organization and all of its members". At the top and bottom of the flag are two gold ribbons. The top one reads 'Established 1749' and the bottom one reads 'Non Verba Facere', meaning "actions not words" in Latin.

The former flag of the Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office is a blue and white tricolor, with white on the hoist and fly sections and blue in the middle. In the center of the blue section is a golden sheriff's badge which contains the Virginia State Seal and 'Chesterfield County Sheriff's Office'.
