Description of the flag

A red flag, with a light blue stripe across near the bottom, an large letter A in yellow extending from top to bottom near the hoist, and the seal in the upper fly.

This 2019 article from the Panther Eye student newspaper of Sweet Home High School mostly complains about how bad the town's flag is but does have a nice vector image: https://panthereye.news/blog/2019/10/03/amherst-flag/

The only other information the article gives is that (former) Town Executive Daniel Ward thought that a flag was needed (year not stated). A contest was held and had many entries (number is not stated). The winner became the current flag.
