Chapter 42-1 Description of the Town Seal for the Town of Yarmouth

The seal of the Town shall be circular in form. Around the outside border there shall be a braided nautical rope, on the inside border shall be the words “TOWN OF YARMOUTH INCORPORATED 1639” in capital letters. The word “MATTACHEESE” which reflects the sachemdom of Iyanough shall be placed on the lower part of the Seal above the words “INCORPORATED 1639”. In the middle foreground shall be an illustration of an Eastern White Pine tree sacred to the Wampanoag Nation. On the left shall be an illustration of the Point Gammon Lighthouse, on the right shall be an illustration of a two masted schooner known as the David K. Akin.

Yarmouth is in Barnstable County, southeastern Massachusetts. The flag is white with the town seal bearing an Indian village scene, the name and date of incorporation, surrounded by a knotted rope.
