Description of the flag

This is the Easton Flag from Easton, Pennsylvania. The legend attached to it is that it was displayed on 8 July 1776 for the reading of the Declaration of Independence in Easton, Pa. There is no documentation for this. In reality it is in all likelihood the Company Color of Capt. Abraham Horn's Militia Co. from Easton raised during the War of 1812. The original survives at the Easton Public Library.

According to this article from The Miami News, it says that Easton adopted its own municipal flag in 1908, a copy of the Easton flag. However, this is not the Easton flag many know. It describes the flag they adopted exactly as the Easton flag is commonly depicted...besides the fact it says there is a circle of eight white stars in the center. Of course, this is very likely human error since drawings from that time of its flag show it exactly as displayed above, but still interesting nonetheless.
