CVS Health is a retail pharmacy chain headquartered in Woonsocket, Rhode
Island, USA. The company was originally created in 1963 as Consumer Value Stores
(hence the current name "CVS"), selling health and beauty supplies. The company
was sold to The Melville Corporation in 1969. The Melville Corporation was a
retail holding company owning more than 7,000 stores at its peak. In 1996, The
Melville Corporation was restructured, becoming CVS Corporation. The company
changed its name to CVS/pharmacy in 2000, then became CVS Caremark in 2007
before changing its name one final time to CVS Health in 2014.
While
driving home yesterday afternoon, I took a different route down some back roads
in Spotsylvania County, and I passed CVS Health's Fredericksburg Distribution
Center. This distribution center supplies more than 370 CVS retail stores in
Virginia, Maryland, North Carolina, and Washington, DC, and is a massive
complex. There's a large flagpole in front of the facility flying both the
American flag and the corporate flag for CVS Health.
The flag of CVS
Health displays the corporate logo on a white field. The logo includes a red
heart on the left, followed by the words "CVS" in red and "Health" in black.
