Coat of Arms

Shield Azure with base wavy Argent, charged with a barrulet wavy Azure, charged with two fish Argent, above a cross Or at dexter and a mill wheel Or at sinister, on chief a pair of scales Argent. Mural crown Argent with four visible towers (town rank) and white scroll reading in black upper case serifed letters "UNIÃO DAS FREGUESIAS DE VILA NOVA DE PAIVA, ALHAIS E FRÁGUAS".
Meaning:
The scales are representing former Vila Nova de Paiva Commune, the cross former Alhais Commune and the wheel former Fráguas Commune. The base wavy is a representation of the Plava River.

Vila Nova de Paiva, Alhais e Fráguas is the only commune of Vila Nova de Paiva Municipality created by a merger during the 2013 changes. It had 1887 inhabitants in 2021 and covers 37,21 km².

Shield Or; an abased barrulet wavy Azure, partly superimposed by a watermill's wheel Gules; topped by an oak branch Vert acorned Gules; in chief two radiant suns Gules charged with inescutcheons, the dexter one Argent a throughout cross Azure, the sinister one Azure five plates in quincunx, issuant from base a ridge Sable garnished Argent. Mural crown Argent with three visible towers (village rank) and white scroll with inscription in black capitals "FRÁGUAS".
