Overview

This city of 15,695 inhabitants was founded on April 1, 1874. The flag of Hormingueros is based upon the blue and white colours and the design of the municipal Coat of Arms. The globe topped by the cross is the sign of royalty and represents the realm of the Christ over the world. This is traditional attribute to be found on iconographical representations of Nuestra Señora [Señora - Our Lady] de Monserrate, since both the image of the Holy Virgin and that of the infant Jesus [show?] this globe in his hands.

Note that "hormigueros" means "ant-hills".

Reported Flag

from pueblos-de-puertorico.com site (defunct)

This flag is from pueblos-de-puertorico.com site (defunct). The difference with the one at lexjuris site is quite obvious. The outer part on the Lexjuris site is blue and on the pueblos-de-Puerto Rico site white. Both sites have different descriptions. Hormigueros is in west Puerto Rico.
