The Flag

Indre Fosen Municipality was created on 1 January 2018 by the merger of Rissa Municipality from ex Sør-Trøndelag County and Leksvik Municipality from Nord-Trøndelag County.

The result of this merger is that the new Indre Fosen Municipality took over the symbols of the former Leksvik Municipality, but so far no photo of the flag has been found to confirm this.

Coat of Arms

[COA of Leksvik] image by Tomislav Šipek, 9 December 2024

Blazon (originally from Leksvik Municipality): I blått en innbøyd sølv spiss som ender i et kløverblad. In English: Per chevron embowed azure and argent point ending in trefoil.
The blue part stands for the sea and its numerous bays around the coast. The white promontories also represent Amborneset - location of the king Sverre Sigurdssons last sea battle of 8 June 1198. The design also symbolizes new growth.
