Overslag former municipality
Overslag (meaning: overhaul, transshipment) is a former municipality in
Zeeuws-Vlaanderen, in 1970 part of Axel, and since 2003 part of Terneuzen.
There was possibly a municipal flag with three equally high stripes
blue - yellow - blue (?) (according to Mr. Hans van Heijningen; Ir Beenhakker
mentioned in his article, that Overslag had an official flag).
Flagproposal: on a blue field a yellow vertical stripe; on both sides
of yellow a yellow ship.
This is a simplified representation of the municipal arms: the dam
(overhaul) with two ships.

Overslag Coat of Arms
by Jarig Bakker, 27 Oct 2004, after image in the Koffie Hag album
Granted 31 Jul 1817
Coat of arms: azure, a dam with on both sides a ship; on the dam a so-called
overhaul, all or.
Long ago the Westerschelde penetrated Zeeuws-Vlaanderen with several
branches. One of them passed Axel and Zuiddorpe till a dike on the place
where Overslag was. This dike was named "Kaaidijk" (quaidike) and
it is assumed that this was the place to overhaul cargo from one ship to
another. At the other side of the dike was a small channel of which some
remnants have been found. This was on the Dutch-Belgian border and it was
a very popular smuggling place.

Nice - the badge reminds me a lot of the old one for Bermuda.
