Municipality of De Ronde Venen is part of the Province of Utrecht. The previous
flag was in use from 1989 until 2011, when the Municipality of Abcoude was
abolished and joined the Municipality of De Ronde Venen. There is no information
if there was a transitional logo flag from 2011 until 2016.

The flag of De Ronde Venen was adopted by the municipal council on 24
November 2016. Quartered over 1/3 of the flag's length, red and blue, across the
middle a white stripe 1/5 of the flag's height with a black serpent half the
flag's length on the breeches side; in the quarters, at equal distance from the
division line, a white Lamb of God looking back with a white banner bearing a
red cross over the shoulder, two white crossed keys, a yellow finch, and three
white columns, placed 2 and 1. New flag consists of the various heraldic
elements from the former coats of arms of the old municipalities that make up
the current De Ronde Venen. It is an initiative and design by flag enthusiast
Marco van Daalen.

From 1989 to 2011, the municipality used a flag with a logo. This logo
consists of a white background with a narrow green vertical stripe on the fly.
In the white area on the left, the text "Gemeente De Ronde Venen" is tilted,
with the "Gemeente" portion of the text in a smaller font than the rest of the
text. A visual logo is displayed in the center. In 1989 the municipality of De
Ronde Venen was formed by merging the former municipalities of Mijdrecht,
Vinkeveen en Waverveen, and Wilnis. These were possibly represented by green
blocks on the logo. On January 1, 2011, the municipality merged with Abcoude,
and the old flag fell into disuse after they changed the logo. In practice, De
Ronde Venen had to wait another five years for a new flag although there are
indications that there was another logo flag in use.

Mijdrecht was until 1 Jan 1989 a municipality; it was then merged with Vinkeveen en Waverveen, and Wilnis, to form the new municipality of De Ronde Venen, with its seat in Mijdrecht.
Description of the old Mijdrecht flag:
Three stripes white - red - white, proportioned 1:4:1; in the center
of the red stripe a turned Agnus Dei with cross-banner, all white and stepping
on the white stripe; on the white cross of the Agnus Dei is a shortened
red cross.
Instituted by the former municipal council on 17 May 1963.
