Coat of Arms: azure a sheaf of corn with three acorns per pale, all or. The shield is surmonté by a crown of a market town or with three mulberry leaves and two pearls and on the rim three lozengy gems with in between two green oval gems; the crown is lined yellow.
Flag: three equally wide horizontal stripes red - white - blue with towards the hoist a shield with a height equal to 1/2 flag height and half white and half black with over all three oars of oats with white stems in the bottom part and the plumes black, with five seed chalices, all in the white shield-top.
The coat or arms of Joure is quite old. It can be seen on top of the side-door
of the Hervormde Kerk in Joure. It reads there: "De Vlek Joure 1644" (the
date of when the church was built)"

This flag is also found on the Neapolitan manuscript of 1667 [sie66]
Joure is the founding place of the Douwe Egberts firm "in koffie en
thee" and Sonnema Beerenburg.
