The "Agencia Federal de Aviación Civil, AFAC" (Federal Civil Aviation Agency) is a government organization dependent on the Secretariat of Infrastructure, Communications and Transportation in charge of aviation regulation in the country. It was established by Decree published on October 16, 2019 (source: ts.sct.gob.mx) and enacted the next day. Its has had different denominations over the years as follows:
-Air Navigation Bureau; from September 20, 1920 to January 31, 1923
-Department of Military Aviation in 1923
-Commercial Aviation Section; from 1923 to 1928
-Department of Civil Aeronautics; from 1928 to July 1, 1930
-Air Communications Department; from 1930 to 1939
-Department of Civil Aeronautics; from 1939 to 1952
-Directorate of Civil Aeronautics; from 1952 to 1956
-General Directorate of Civil Aviation; from 1956 to 2019
-Federal Civil Aviation Agency; since October 17, 2019
