No Flag

I was informed the municipality does not use a municipal flag.

Coat of Arms

image from Wikimedia Commons

The coat of arms was adopted by the council under Document 1243 on 22 March 1988. It was designed by Prof. Jesús Urrea Mewly.

Crowning the coat of arms is the mission of Los Santos Reyes de Cucurpe, established in 1647 originally. Just below is a red ribbon with the words "CUCURPE, SONORA". In the center is a dove with its wings spread, extending to the outer part of the coat of arms; this makes reference to the municipal name, which means "Place of quails" (a type of dove). This dove hovers over a depiction of the San Miguel River (usually dry). Just beside is a field and the mountains overlooking it; on the left there is a dirt pathway with trees in the distance. Two fruits and a cattle for its cattle-raising industry are depicted. On the righthand side there is a crossed pick and shovel for mining and a bundle of wheat. The shape of a bow and arrow encircles the shield and carries the motto "LIBERTAD UNIDAD PROGRESO" [Liberty, Unity, Progress].
