The council informed me Sunuapa does not have a flag.

The council informed me the coat of arms of Sunuapa was adopted in 1996, being designed by the Municipal President Faustino Garduza Sánchez (1996-1998) as part of his administration, but this cannot be confirmed. The shield has a white border. In its inner scene it depicts the Sierra Madremountains of its environment and the sun shining over it. To the left, the Saint Simon local church is depicted. By the Platanar river in the center that flows through the region are two jonote trees, as its name means "river of the jonotes". To the left, two figures are seen worshipping what appears to be a pyramid. Under them, a cow is seen as a symbol of the local economy and a branch. To the right is a representation of a banana plant.
